Mobile applications have taken the center stage in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when industries are grappling under the environment of uncertainty and hardships, mobile apps have demonstrated the strength to reinforce a series of innovations to keep the world running.

How epidemic has changed Mobile App Development? What are the development trends of mobile app in the Covid-19?

Asia Smart App Awards (ASA) is coming back! The 8th edition of the Awards, organized by Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA) and with the funding support from Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, not only recognises Asia’s inventive and best-of-breed smart apps, but also provides a platform for app development professionals in Asia to learn and share the latest industry updates and expertise.

With past winners of the ASA 2020 as guest speakers, Mr. Nicolas Guyon, Co-Founder of Visionaries 777, Mr. Brian Hui, Co- Founder of Pokeguide, Mr. Jason Yuen, Co-Founder & CEO of SOCIF, and Mr. Kelvin Siu, Founder & CEO, InnoSpire Technology. They shared their experience in participating in the last ASA and encouraged their counterparts to actively participate in the current edition.

Mr. Nicolas Guyon

Visionaries 777

Nicolas Guyon is one of the co-founder of Visionaries 777, the company designs and develops scalable and interactive software tools for industry leaders. Their expertise in XR content and strategies span the full range of key domains and can be applied across the entire organization. Prior to Visionaries 777, Nicolas worked for LEGO within their R&D department, leading the co-creation of their first AR patents focusing on innovative play experiences.

Mr. Brian Hui

Co- Founder

Brian Hui is the Co-founder of Pokeguide, a navigation app helping people how to go from one place to another by public transportation. The app covers a variety of transportation, from subway, train, bus, minibus to free shuttle bus. We cover Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan with over 300,000 users.

Mr. Jason Yuen

Co-Founder & CEO

Jason and Simon co-founded SOCIF LIMITED, which contributes to smarter transportation in Hong Kong. Jason is responsible for business development in both the transport and logistics sectors. Simon leads the engineering team to bring emerging technology into the public transportation industry and help the existing operators to perform digital transformation. In 2021, partnered with HKT and Octopus HK, SOCIF has involved in a government contract from the Transport Department of HK of providing an Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) service to 3,500+ public green minibus, serving 1.5+ million daily passengers.

Ir Dr. Kelvin Siu

Founder & CEO
InnoSpire Technology

Ir Dr Siu Kai Wing is the Founder and CEO of a technology startup called InnoSpire Technology Limited. The company has developed a mobile app called WeVoice+. This app aims at building a worldwide community consisting of volunteers and the visually impaired. The app has won the Bronze Award of the Asia Smart App Awards 2020, the Championship of Hong Kong Techathon 2020 and was a winner of the Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC) in 2020. The project is currently supported by incubation programme of Hong Kong Science & Technology Park (HKSTP).
